Where are you from? No, in my country students have to silent their mobil phones, but it is not forbitten to have it. Even children in elementary school (at the age 7) have it. But they must obey rules. If they don't silent mobile phones (you forgot to silent it), you go to the discipline teacher.

Why would you want a cell phone in class with you any way?? They are outlawed in the schools because they are a nuisance and disrupt the studies and teaching of
the other students and the teacher or professor. BTW, the country that I live in is the USA!!!

Cell phones are disruptive, defeat the purpose of a school's learning (as opposed to incessantly socializing) environment and are rampantly used for cheating. I support banning them from schools. They were not allowed when I went to high school, but teachers tended to not enforce that rule because so many people broke it.

You go to school to listen and learn, not chat on the phone. If your parents don't enforce you leaving it in your locker on silent they should take it away from you.
