Well, professionally speaking , of course; We do have a very serious side. Having to maintain a certain image expected from us by the general public, we don't always get the opportunity to express it. It's a sad and often lonely life we are forced to live. And of course it is hurtful when CERTAIN individuals compare you to the redheaded kid in the back of the class. (Event though it is true.)
Truth be known, the serious side is truly much too dark to be appreciated by humans. Therefore, we find it simply easier to life the lie of jocularity and hope that someday, just someday people can appreciate all the joy we offer, even though it is a facade.
BTW: *SPLAT* (I just hit you with a spit wad.)

I don't know where you get your information from.
Penguins are a serious threat to this planet. Did you know that the major hole in the ozone layer is in the Southern Hemisphere but 90% of the air pollution originates from the Northern Hemisphere.
And its all down to the penguins. There are millions of them and they are all concentrated into a small area around Antartica. It is the methane gas from their farting that has caused the world's largest hole in the ozone layer.
I take penguins very seriously.

If you watched March of the Penguins you will see what a battle it is for them to survive. They are just celebrating there success in being alive! I love penguin..long may they be happy and cheerful birds of the sea!

penguins can be serious, I saw them waddle ashore in Australia ( Philip island) which is southern Australia, anyway they come ashore to go back to the nests/homes and they sure do look serious about making it, but from a human point of view they look funny, down side to this you cant take pictures of the penguin parade.

You've obviously never had one turn up on your doorstep, tooled up and looking for that 20 quid you lent him. Seriously scary. For a minute. Untill I remembered that penguins have an achilles heel. Whack 'em with a salmon, they're out cold.
Have you ever seen killer whales going for them though? Nearly as good as watching crocodiles eat wildebeast. Nearly.
