He made $18

Easy to solve

$60X1.25= $75 x2= $150 for 2 tennis rackets
60 X(1-.2)= $48 for the other tennis racket

Total price he bought the tennis rackets
$60x3= $180

Total price he sold the tennis racket
$150+$48= $198

subtract
$198- $180= $18

Each racket costs $60, 25% of $60= $15, 20% of $60= $12. So $75+$75+$48= $198.

3tennis rackets*$60=$180 remember that k?
now the ratio for one tennis racket to the price is

1 tennis racket/$60 ( i'm tired of writing tennis rakets so i'm just goin to use t)

now: he sold two rackets 25% more thatn what he had paid for.

t=$60 so 2t=$120-----thats the price he bought them for
now 1.25(since you're adding .25 of the price to the price its the same as (1+.25)*1=1.25 where 1 is the price[its not a fraction its full, its 1!)
so: 1.25*$120=$150

Now Charlie is being dumb and sells his racket for 20$ less than he had bought it for, so:
(1+-.20)*$60=.8*60=48

Now the question is how much profit did he make? so you add, or subtract the amount he earned or lossed.

60-48=-12 and you also have150-120=30
now you add those two together:30+-12=18

Ans. He made $18

Cost = $60
Sold at 25% more than cost = $60 x 125% (ie $60 +25%)
25% of $60 is $15 ($60x25/100)
Selling price is therefore $75 ($60 plus $15)
As Charlie sold two, he has made 2 x $75 = $150
Sold at 20% less than cost = $60 x 80% (ie $60 - 20%)
20% of $60 is $12 ($60x20/100)
Selling price is therefore $48 ($60 minus $12)

As Charlie has received $150 from selling the first two, and has also made $48 from selling the third, I'll leave it to you to figure how much money he received from selling tennis rackets.

If you have problems with this, you should really ask your teacher to help you understand.

I hope you understand how I worked this out.

buy 3 rackets = 3 x 60 = 180 dollars

Sell 2 rackets at 125% of the original price = 60 x 1.25 x 2 = 150 dollars

Sell 1 racket at 80% of the original price = 60 x 0.8 = 48

Total cash in = 150 + 48 = 198 dollars

Therefore his total profit is = 198 - 180 = 18 dollars

He spent $180 on 3 raquets

2 were sold at $75 dollars each ($60 + $15 25% increase)=$150

1 sold at $48 which was $12 (or 20%) less than what he paid

He received $150 + $48 = $198 for the raquets an increase of $18 on what he originally paid for them.

One of the reasons that you have different answers is the vague question at the end. How much did he receive from selling tennis rackets? Technically, he received $198. However, only $18 was profit. Tell Charlie not to quit his day job.

60$ each

25% of one tennis racket is 15 ( 60 / 100 * 25 = 15 )

means 15$ profit on one racket

on 2 rackets the profit is of 30$ (2 * 15 = 30)

20% of one trennis racket is 12 (60 / 100 *20 = 12)

means loss is of 12$ on third racket

now profit - loss = 30 - 12 = 18$

profit earned on three rackets = 18$

profit earned on single racket = 6$ (18 / 3 = 6)

is dat okie now step by step solution

60$ times three rackets equals 180$ that he paid so his balance is negative 180$. When he Sells the two rackets this is the equation 120*1.25 = 150 add that to negative 180$ the third racket is 60*.8=48 add the sums up and you get 18$ profit

25% of $60 = 60/(100/25) = $15 so he sold the first two for $75 each that's $150 total.

20% of $60 = 60/(100/20) = $12 and he sold it less so $60-$12 = $48

$150+$48 = $198
He bought them all for $180 so he has made (198-180 = ) $18 profit
