i have oesteo arthritis in my left shoulder i can still move it and it feels ok would i still be accepted on a midwifery course as i am applying in sept?

I am only 35 the doc said i must have had a injury to bring it on. I will have to have a letter from my doctor to give me the all clear for fitness to practice do you think that he will?

Yes you will be accepted - you shouldn't be stopped for a bit of arthritis - quick question though arthritis normally doesnt set in until your 50th to 60th year - did you have a bad fracture/ accident in the past......

you should see a physio to give you some advice on shoulder exercises to maintain range and strength in the arm. Especially if your going to work in a fairly physical job such as midwifery.

You can always make your shoulder better with specific exercises..

Of course, its just a matter of keeping the swelling and pain under control so you can study and work.

Ibuprofen takes care of the swelling and a lot of the pain. At least it works for mine. Good luck on your new career.

Dont see why not. There is legislation agianst discriminating against disablilities and if its not going to stop you doing the job(which sounds like it wont)there should be no problem.

ofcourse illness or deseases is not a major factor that will put u down in ur career .. believing in ones ability is most important. and that what counts okey
