Apart from liquid..a fren told that i cant lock my luggage..y not?will it be ok not to lock it???help me out..i'm from singapore

I just got back from a roundtrip national flight...obviously no knives, weapons, firearms, drugs, also, no liquids of any sort(unless it is prescribed medication where you need to show proof), also i dont think you are allowed matches...im not too sure on that. But for sure, no liquids, this includes makeup, even water or soft drink that you may have bought from a restaurant right before entering the plane. Hope this helps. Ok i read the other part of your question, you cant lock your luggage, becuase from what i know, luggage that is checked in also gets looked at and scanned(for obvious reasons). If the people checking the luggage need to see inside for suspicious items or what not, the bag needs to be able to open, or else they will have to rip/break it open.

Well i don't think you are allowed to bring firearms/weapons so leave them at home if you have any :D
On a more serious note, the reason they ask you not to lock your lunggage i suppose is to allow the US customs open up your luggage if they need to. Otherwise they might crack your lock to do so. Your luggage should be pretty safe but keep your valuables and important documents on you just in case.

I don't know all the rules but you should really call the airline and ask them or at least go to their web site. They should have a list of banned items.
