I found a site, http://www.cowtowninfo.com/personals/jailbabes-main.html that lists personals ads from female inmates along with their mailing addresses. I'm wondering if this is a scam or if these are real people. Some of the ads read as though they are truly nice women who have made wrong choices along the way, but deep down some seem to be more victims of circumstances (such as drug abuse) than bad people.
I wouldn't consider a "lifer", someone who lists her marital status as "widow", but some have short sentences that are drug related that might be more open to a normal relationship.
Has anyone written to any of these ladies? What has been your experience? Are they after more than friendship?

That site looks like a scam. I wouldn't write inmates. Inmates carry a lot of baggage since they are in prison or have had rough lives. If you're the type who needs someone to "fix", I'm sure they'll be more than happy to take advantage of you. If you want to chit chat with the opposite sex, try personals or something like that.

No do NOT believe all these websites claiming you can send letters to them ONLINE! Its all a scam!! The best way to write to an inmate is by hand, Trust me im sure they'll be happy to see a letter written from any of there loved ones, to them its another way of keeping in touch with them!

i do~~~~~~i have wrote to serveral inmates...no harm....even went and vistited a few of them when i lived in Texas, i am writing one in California at this time, been writing for 3 months..faithfully....he is in for life w/o parole..murder...
doesn't bother me at all. i enjoy every letter. it is not for me or any other to judge them. it's all good for me in Oklahoma....God Bless
