My mother made sure of that by totally freaking out if the phone rang after 10 when I lived at home.

Sure do, but usually it's a wrong number, many times it's just after the bars close and some drunk dials my number by mistake looking for a cab or help getting home, very annoying, but I'm sure the one time I ignore it and go back to sleep, it will be one of my kids needing help or some other important thing, so I keep answering it.

Yes I do. I am a manager who is on call 24/7, so when the phones rings, it generally is not a good thing...

Phone rings often during the early hours but that's because I get calls from different countries. I don't lose any sleep over it.

If it's after 10:00, I assume it's bad news. Most people I know know that I have to go to bed early, so they're only going to wake me up if they need to (unless it's my husband--he'll holler to me from anywhere in the house long after he knows I've gone to bed, if he gets a "great idea," or there's something I've "just got" to see on TV).

Yes, if nothing else it means you have to wake up for the wrong number. That's bad news enough.

If it is someone you know, I assume it's bad news.

Yes I do but only because it's so jarring.
It can often times be someone from overseas looking for hubby in a rush so it usually isn't.
