6 and 7.
Anakin, growing up without knowing any father figure, formed an enormously close and emotional bond to his mother. When she died, his emotions needed some outlet and he released them in rage against those who had killed his mother. In essence he was a person with great potential and overwhelemingly strong emotions. This accounted for his arrogance and temper, but also for his oversensitivity in love - like Shakespeare's Othello, he "loved not wisely, but too well" - pouring himself into his love for Padme, and forming that same kind of clamlike attachment to her as he had done to his mother. for someone like Anakin, all fire and glory, the disciplines of the Jedi way were always going to be more hard to apply than for some other Jedi. The logic of the dark side spoke eloquently to the fire in his nature - what good are emotions if they are to be denied? What good is power if it to be caged, rather than used? It is a tragic irony of truly epic proportions that the love that could have balanced out his fire instead became consumed by it, as he sought to make life and love eternal, against the flow of the universe. This quest to keep hold of good times, good emotions, made him justify ethics that went against the nature of the univese, and essentially overbalanced his emotions till they crashed through the barriers of the Jedi training and he wnet to war against a universe in which Padme could not love him. The rest, including his eventual reclamation by the son conceived in love, is history ;o)

7. Other. I say this because the jedi prophecy was anakins downfall. NOt only did it label him as the "chosen one" What he was chosen to do was destroy the jedi. The prophecy didnt say that specifically. BUt when the prophecy wa that he was chosen to bring balance to the force. And the light greatly outweighed the sith. It could only mean one thing. HE did bring balance to the force because after his slaying of the jedi there were 2 light jedi and 2 sith remaining:

Sith
1. Palpatine
2. Vader

Jedi:
1. Obi-wan
2. Yoda

(Luke was not born yet)

therefore his downfall was the prophecy that doomed the jedi from the very beginning of the jedi order.

7. Other - The influence of Palpatine/Sidious. Without Palpatine, Anakin would not have fallen to the dark side. Palpatine knew Obi-Wan was Anakin's anchor to the light, which is why he separated them. Palpatine also was a mentor to Anakin, and gave him the approval he had been craving (and which the Jedi did not provide). I would not be surprised if Sidious planted Anakin's dreams of Padme's death. Yoda is partially to blame as well, as Anakin came to him for advice, but Yoda was so blinded by the Jedi Code that the advice he gave to Anakin was utterly useless.

Good question, I can see all your answers leading to his downfall.

Of course it was said in Phantom menance that he had a lot of those little metoclourids(sp? i know, I know)

Mace knew what was going on , he knew he was a bad seed. Poor Anakin, he seemed like a good guy, but his dark side was more powerful.
You could see it when he killed all the sand people, then Padme still married him...perhaps she thought that maybe it was his anger over his mother, and it wouldn't continue.
He did seem to be very jealous of Obi Wan tho, IMO.

And that saving people from dying really got to him.
Palpatine knew Anakin was a little off balance, and knew how to get to him.
Who wouldn't want to save a love one?
But in the end, Anakin's selfishness, arrogance, and jealously led to his dismise.

2. and 7. Other

The main reason is: Fear

In the words of Yoda, "Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate...leads to suffering."

It was Anakin's quick temper and fear of losing those he loved that led to his downfall. It began when he murdered the tribe of sandpeople, to avenge the death of his mother. Then came the dreams of his wife dying. it was the Emperor's ability to tinker with this weakness that lead him into believing how the powers of the dark side may be able to save her. When the Emperor and Mace Windu finally clashed, Anakin chose the path that would save his wife, even if it meant the death of a master jedi.

You hit it prety much dead on. On thing you forgot though was his mother. When he killed all those Tusken raders because of his moms death he took a major step to the dark side. And you know what yoda said "Once you start down the path to the dark side forever will it dominate your desteny) One other thing you forgot is his love of power. Palpatine wasn't just geussing with his talks about power, he knew what anakin really wanted. All your points were good though.
May the force be with you

I think what ultimately led Anakin Skywalker to his downfall was his obsession with power. He always wanted power to rule the world, which is why he became his son Luke Skywalker's enemy, Darth Vader.

It was his inability to let go of his fear. Also, his inability to just let go. Because he was born a slave he didn't understand that you didn't have to own or possess someone to have them stay with you.
He was arrogant and had a quick temper, but it's his desire to control and possess that really brought his downfall. The jedi don't allow attachment for that very reason.

7. He fell because he was unable to let Padme` go. When his mother died in his arms he felt he was responsible for her death, in that he should have been there sooner. When he started dreaming of Padme`dying he became obsessed with preventing her death. He would have been a stronger person for being there for her and with her in spite of the Jedi council's rules against such as being married. It would have been better for him to face the council and whatever discipline they chose and be with Padme`as she died instead of falling to the dark side had having her die alone.

None of the above. It's his disability to control himself that led to his downfall. He couldn't control his emotions, which leads to anger, hate and the suffering of others (as Yoda would put it). If he could've somehow control his emotions, he would've stopped the Sith Lord Sidius at his feet. His emotions made him choose the wrong decisions, therefore made him susceptible to the dark side.
