ABSOLUTELY. The older I get the more I need to do this. After a certain age, many yearly tests are VERY important to have done. You just reminded me. I need to call the doctor and set up an appointment for a colonoscopy. I've been told to get one every 5 years...had my first 5 years ago. I remember telling the nurse, before the doctor came in: "I've had lots of operations in my life and I usually get very nauseated, especially if people talk about food. PLEASE ask him not to do that. Can you sort of ask him to just concentrate of the procedure" (I knew I would not be totally out. I also know that some doctors are talking with the others as they work.) When the doctor came into the operating room, the nurse was very forceful with my requests. Upon hearing the list of "not to do's" he replied: " Geez..am I allowed to say hello to her?"

I stopped getting a Physical Exam every year because I am so scared that they would look at the hideous growth on my back. I have had this growth on my back since 1995, and I am afraid of getting it removed.

It is recommende that you get a physical exam every year. By doing this you increase your chances of survival from cancers such as breast and cervical, as you are examined for them and they can be caught earlier and treated.

I think it has a lot to do with age and your health. If you are young and have medical problems-yes I think maybe you should. As one gets older, I think it is more important. I think if one if young and healthy, most people don't feel it is necessary. You ask a question--do YOU--yes, my doctor wants to see me every three months because I have blood pressure problems. He will only give me a three month supple of medicine to ensure this.

I haven't in the past but I have been pretty good about it the last few years and plan to continue into the future. I want to make sure I am healthy as I grow older.

No, I'm horrible about that. I never think of it, but wish I did. I ususally go to the doctor only when sick.
