I own a new Impala...great car, especially if you have alot of driving. Very comfortable, great on gas, with lots of room. I also own a Honda Civic which has proven to be a very good fuel efficient vehicle.

Well we've got a Smart Car 2 person which is absoltuely wodnerful for small commuting trips and one-person drives.
We also have a Renault Scenic as the priamry fmaily car (5 seats) however though safety and eprfroamcne is generally good we jsut had it M.O.T'ed and found the rbakes pads had compeltely disintegrated. They were unsafe and cost 600 pounds to replace - apparently typcial of scenic's so I wouldn't reccomend.
If you're looking for a 4-5 person "normal" car I would recommend a toyota yaris - incredibly safe and great performance for day to day use - work etc.

Who is us, how much money can you spend, and are there any other factors?
Do you care about speed, size of the car, how many seats or doors, fuel economy, etc, etc?
A little more information is needed. Based on the fact that you're in "Chevy" section, I'm assuming you're American and looking for a domestic. Avoid domestic cars that over-attempt to be sporty (Pontiac Grand Prix) - the seats lack bolstering and the leg support drops off too quickly if you have to drive for any length of time.
Big 3 to look at? Mazda 3/6/CX-7, Nissan Versa/Maxima/Murano, or VW Passat/Audi A3. One of these cars should fit in your price range, and depending on how many people you need to hold, should fit rather nicely in your car hold.

How many people do you plan on transporting in said vehicle? A little more detail could get you a decent answer. Until then, we'll use your vague question as a vehicle for 2 lousy points. I look forward to your vote for best answer and an extra 10 lousy points. Holla!

More info please.
Sports car? Eco car? Truck? Suv?
My pick for this day and age , if money isn't too tight,
Toyota highlander hybrid 4x4 all wheel.(2 electric motor assists!)
If money is slightly tight
Toyota prius. (a hybrid that has been out several years now.)
If you're seriously hurting for money.
Kia Spectra (best warrenty out there!)

How would we know? You do not even mention how many people it is for. You say us so I will assume there is two of you. You do not mention price. So I will assume that price is not a object.
You are in Chevrolet so I will assume that is what you want.
Get a Corvette.
