Would you get offended by these greetings? Would you ask "what do you mean?" Would you just say "Thank you"? Or would you consider this as jesting/teasing/joking remarks and just ignore him?
Put yourselves in the shoes of a 'highly sensitive' person, how would you react? Would you rather expect the greeter to be more straight forward/curtious and polite?

Personally, I would say "thank you" and consider it as teasing and joking remarks. You can't expect everyone to know how you will react to a comment, especially if they don't know you all to well although a little tactfulness on their part wouldn't hurt either.

for my area, i'm a huge fan of Thessalonians 2, verse 12 -- it truly is not anti-gay or something like that, yet talks about condemning people, so it truly is cool. This states that those that trust lies are going to Hell. So... the record of those going to Hell occurs to contain the people that instructed me to study the Bible interior the first position. sweet, sweet irony...
