Our country is made up of people from all over the world, who came in in droves years ago and now are apart of our society, but you can't necessarily pick them out. They have assimilated into our society nicely. Why are the new ones not assimilating/blending in. They insists on displaying their ethniticity in public, expect us to respect them. They have been given freedom, but they won't even talk with us in English. Maybe I've watched too much Star Trek! lol

I understand what you are saying. I'm third generation born here in the states. I think that it has a lot to do for the fact that big business has really tryed to market that its ok to not learn English because we will have the phone directions in Spanish or "fill in the blank" for you.
what about the paper directions when you buy something.Lets bring up all the schools that cater to them so that they wont have to try and fit in. What about all the lets let everyone talk any old way they want to and we will just have to live with it even if we cant understand one f---en word they say. "because that's the way their people talk" If you ask me and I know no one is but if we do away with all the catering bull **** we would force them into fitting in. Not to mention save a lot of money and confusion.
Let me just add that I was in a Wal mart the other day and they had this dumb commercial on about how it was celebrate diversity month and that we should celebrate everyones way of life. Now I know that we should and that's why we have St. Patty's day and Cinco De Mayo and some other days and that's fine but It just seams so me that they are just trying to push it in the wrong direction.

No its not because as you are saying, its just because the way you are taking things sometime we give more respect than required or sometime w don't and we feel we are doing good and we shd be rewarded for that.Just like girls feel that boy shd come and propose first what may come .I think its just a matter of time infact every creature has a right to adjust with time and for that they require everything it just can't be applied forcefully or by giving some comments.Lets try to understand the concept of world citizenship.
