Convincing a terrorists to give up their evils deeds is like asking the sun to quit shining. So many people look for one person to blame, and Bush makes himself a pretty easy target; however, the focus should be with the "clerics" and terrorist groups over in Afghanistan and Iraq. Whether or not we support the reasons behind the war, we should still support our troops. It isn't like they opted to be over there for this long.
Maybe Bush's actions haven't suppressed terrorist activities, but he has certainly raised more attention to their actions.
Take the recent arrests in London, for example. If we hadn't freaked out about terrorists for the past 5 years, then hundreds more people would have died.
Basically, I doubt we'll ever be able to fully quash terrorism as a whole society, let alone just one President. I think the key should be education and prevention, 'cause these fanatics aren't going to stop until one side is dead.

His goal is not to convince terrorists to give up their deeds. The goal is to stop them and he has done a lot toward stopping more attacks and letting the terrorists know that we will no longer just stand by and allow our country to be hit.
These actions may help to convince many to not join with the terrorists. We will never know how many may have decided to not go into terror because of our strong stance on terror.
The problem I now see is that Bush is compromising on his war against terrorism. Playing games in order to keep the oil flowing. That concerns me and should concern us all.
Playing politics with terrorism will get us killed!

In one of his audiotape which was released on January 19th 2205, Osama ben Laden had declared: "If you [Americans] are sincere in your desire for peace and security, we have answered you. And if Bush decides to carry on with his lies and oppression, then it would be useful for you to read
the book _Rogue State', which states in its introduction ... " He then goes on to quote the opening of a paragraph (which appears actually in the Foreword of the British edition only, that was later translated to Arabic), which in full reads:
"If I were the president, I could stop terrorist attacks against the United States in a few days. Permanently. I would first apologize -- very publicly and very sincerely -- to all the widows and the orphans, the impoverished and the tortured, and all the many millions of other victims of American imperialism.
I would then announce that America’s global interventions -- including the awful bombings -- have come to an end. And I would inform Israel that it is no longer the 51st state of the union but -– oddly enough -– a foreign country. I would then reduce the military budget by at least 90% and use the savings to pay reparations to the victims and repair the damage from the many American bombings and invasions. There would be more than enough money. Do you know what one year of the US military budget is equal to? One year. It’s equal to more than $20,000 per hour for every hour since Jesus Christ was born.
"That’s what I’d do on my first three days in the White House. On the fourth day, I’d be assassinated."

Yes, Quadaffi in Lybia was a supporter of terrorism. He thought best to hand over his WMD's.This is about survival in the long term. The ball is rolling and cannot be stopped. Regardless of who first pushed it down the hill. It is time to rally and get serious or our demise is inevitable. Think it through. 50 years from now. Will the world be a heap of ash or place with a flourishing economy and a place of healing disease beyond our wildest dreams. United We Stand Divided We Fall.

I think rather the opposite is the case.
Since Bush invaded Afghanistan and Iraq the member list of Al-Queada has swollen beyond Osama's wildest dreams. It was like Osama sitting there and chanting:
Please George, invade some oil rich country!
Please George, invade some oil rich country!
Please George, invade some oil rich country!
George Worthless Bush is certainly the largest catalyst of terrorism this planet has ever seen.
Combating terrorism? On the contrary... he nurtures it.

Pres. Bush's intention is not to convince terrorists to quit terrorizing. His intention is to destroy them. If any quit out of fear of destruction then fine, but it's difficult to instill fear into someone willing to fly themselves into a building. You cannot reverse a terrorists mind, only he can do that, case in point: Shoebat!
These people are indoctrinated from birth to hate and destroy non-Muslims.

No. The very fact that the terror attacks are coming up with unfailing regularity shows that no one is convinced. The analysts are saying that the end is no where near. We are in for a long haul! God only knows how long?

Geo W has done what he set out to do. He has given thousands of frustrated angry youth a viable reason to attack America. Welcome to the New Economy. Economic Whack-A-Mole. Instead of hunting down Communist like our Forefathers now we Seek out to destroy Terrorists. Any disgruntled embittered dis-empowered individuals or groups are invited to attack US and US shall react either proactively or, "oops" after the fact when we clean up after a nasty terrorist incident and go after more 'suspects' in a never ending whirl of violence & bloodshed. As long as a select cadre of the rich & powerful can live in their gated secure communities out of harms way - - - why not.
