How do you deal with people like these? Ok I know this one guy he's my cuzin's kind of friend they work together. As I got to know him better he's a real asshole. Like everytime you say something he will always correct you. He thinks everythink he does and says is better than everyone's also. Self absorbed son of *****. Always trying to put others down someway. Even when he knows he is totally wrong he wont admit and still insists on his own. Should you just ignore people like these because you just can't change their behavior?

He's what I call a one uppper. He will always have to have one up on you even if he has to lie to do that. If you have 3 good friends he has 4. If you have been to 5 different states hes been to 6, get my point. Same with not admitting he is wrong, that would not give him the upper hand. He has to be at least one up. Seems to make him and people like him feel better about themselves. I think they are seriously lacking something in their lives and have to be better then everyone else to make up for it. I ignore them. No use getting myself all upset over this when there is nothing I can do. If you say something it will only cause a fight and he will one up you by saying your the problem.

Self absorbed conflicted a hole to be percise. I wouldn't waste my time on him. If he corrects you in mid sentance give a indetermined pause and let the silence build while just looking at him blankly. He will correct you of course, but just endure it then just continue to look at him then when he see's that you are still looking. He will ask, "What?" Then you simply ask if he is done being a rude asz hole and if it's alright with him if you continue on with your thing! I have done this a few times and the outcome is always the same! Other than that just ignore him, or egg him on make more mistakes for him to correct! Let the perfectionist do the work!

I have worked with a few people like this, and still do. I try my best to ignore them, but sometimes I HAVE to deal with them. I find that when two people are making a point about something they will agree with one, then the other. I also have a son in law like this who thinks he knows so much (and ruined his car because he wouldn't listen to me when I told him he needed to put oil in his car, afterall what do I know). They want to be accepted, they want people to like them, look up to them, so they don't feel so bad about themselves. I usually end up pissing these people off really well because I just don't have the patience anymore. So what if they don't like me when I tell them they are not God and don't know everything, or ask them why they have to pretend they know everything, they don't pay my bills.

You could try the direct approach. Let's call him "Bob", for lack of a better handle.

"Look, Bob, I need you to realize something. YOU AREN'T MY FATHER, You aren't my TEACHER, and you aren't my BOSS. While I occasionally appreciate input from others, I really don't want anymore "help" from you. You come across as really arrogant, and I'm not interested in anything you have to say! I really believe you have some self esteem issues, that you are trying to handle by being a walking encyclopedia. Instead you are coming across as a jerk, and I'm not interested."

Something like that.

yes. people like that don't deserve anyone's attention.
you have to be surrounded by people different from that. You don't need that, you don't have to put up with it.
and maybe if everyone does the same, he will make an effort to change
otherwise, forget it, why would he?
just get away from him, honestly. i met people like that, 2.andlife is much better when they are not around to tell you how great they are - being humble is one of the greatest personality traits.

Ignoring him is an easy way out. If you really want to correct him do the same he does to you and when he feels hurt explain him why you behaved so. But be carefull that sort of thing might stick on to you..... Cheer up this it the way life goes and ppl are...

I've experienced such people in my life. They tend to put you down and demoralize you. They will lower your self esteem quite a bit and even make you feel worthless.

Stay away from them. Keep to positive minded who like you for you and encourage you. People like that would be better for your morale and your self esteem. Loll!

How do you deal with a person like that? You walk away. You won't change anything by arguing with them.

Never try to teach a Pig to sing. It wastes your time and ticks off the pig.

of course you should ignore him. Well who cares about them? Let him dream in his reality of his universal truth. Don't tell him there is no universal truth because I am sure he would come upo with something really "intelligent" :D Do not judge him, let him live his life in the way he wants and if you're right others will agree with you, not with him. That's all :)
