I used the post office this morning to send 4 parcels as I sell craft stuff on ebay. Thanks to their new posting guidelines I actually saved mony with three of the parcels each costing 10p less than last week and going 1st class instead of 2nd. Its not that complicated and anyone with a set of kitchen scales can work it out. Honest!

Since Royal Mail no longer have a monopoly, they stand to gradually lose business unless the get their act together; my bank already uses an alternative postal service; I ordered goods on-line on a Monday morning from Derbyshire, and received in Devon Tuesday morning (A 7 kg parcel) Hard to see RM matching that.

Royal Mail are losing business anyway due to their complete inability to fulfil their main objective and deliver mail to people. I find it ironic that they have now brached out into loans, bank account, insurance etc... but now seem to put less time into the one thing we would like them to be able to do properly. Unfortunately there are not many other options open to the general public and they will have to swallow the up coming changes which I feel will probably just confuse the issue and royal mail even more than at present. Thanks for letting me rant!

There are quite a few private competitors to the Royal Mail in on the commercial side,that are going to benefit.

They are never going to lose out. Each time they are in financial trouble they either raise prices or go to the government for another handout. If it was a privately run business the board would have been sacked.

They are gonna make more money, cos no-one will know how much postage to put on their envelopes, therefore the recipient will have to go along to the post office to collect their mail, and pay the £1 something surcharge!

I'm still waiting to get one of their leaflets through the door that that Geordie bloke from Auf Weidersehn/Inspector Morse keeps telling me that I'll get through the door (although I've secretly downloaded the details from their site!)

It is a joke. There is going to be so much confusion and our mail is going to be late with all the errors that are going to take place.
