Well Twilight....remember Darrel Hair is an employee of the ICC so they cant sack him can they...even if they KNOW that he is wrong because that will mean that they are wrong...my friend...we can just hope that Pakistan file a case against Hair and win it....and yeah.....although Hair is an Aussie he lives in England....thats why he staged all this..

I don't think the ICC actually had any idea of how to handle this situation as it's not exactly a day to day occurance !!!
They could certainly have handled it a hell of a lot better.
Until an investigation has been carried out I don't think anybody should jump to conclusions.
The umpire is there to make decisions and rightly or wrongly those decisions should be respected by all players and those in managment.
This has absolutley nothing to do with racism at all and to accuse Darryl Hair of making cricketing decisions based on racial opinion is quite pathetic and completely unnecessary.
He may not have the best decision making reputation especially when it comes to asian sides but don't forget that it takes two umpires to make the official call and the other umpire was of a different ethnic background so where exactly does the race issue even come into this particular episode?
Pakistan, if they feel aggreived were right to stage a short protest but to act with the petulance of an upset child and forfeiting the game leaves nobody to blame for the result but themselves.
Cricket is a game for good manners and sportmanship, the best and most effective way Pakistan could have protested would have been to accept the decision and then go on to win the game with a dignified and united team effort. Afterwards they can have all the time they like to protest their innocence.
The English players have absolutely nothing to do with any decision that was made and I'm 100% certain that they would have just wanted to get back on the field and finish the game. Even though they were awarded the game it will not seem like a victory, they knew they were beaten.
This issue will rumble on and on and it will have a huge effect on the game, at the end of the day this is about the game of Cricket, it has nothing to do with racism and lets just hope that whatever the outcome of this that Cricket will remain a game of gentlemen.
Please please please do not make this a racism issue.

To be honest, and I am an Aussie - I don't really understand how he get's to do South Asian teams now - I am not suggesting for a minute that he is racist - but I think he struggle to communicate properly with them, just some kind ofcultural diffences he can't get over.
The ICC see him as one of their best umpires, and he probably is, he is very accurate, but also officiuous, he acts more like a policeman than a moderator. The Pakistanis were very upset that he didn't try and speak to them and discuss it, but it isn't his style. Everything is black and white in the world of Hair, right ot wrong. And the South Asians cultures I don't think, see it that way.
The ICC is to blame, but for appointing him in the first place.

i dunno wat hapn, din watch the match. just read about it on the net.
and from wat it says i dun think the umpire was in the rite. if theres no proof of ball tampering i dun think he should just chage the ball. specialy when wickets are so important to pakistan and the match was in the balance.
entertaining stuff though. lets c wat hapn
