Catch-22: "Term describing a general situation in which an individual has to accomplish two actions which are mutually dependent on the other action being completed first." Example: In order to get a job, you must have experience, but you can't get experience without a job. Kind-of like a lose-lose situation.

So when someone says "what's the catch," it usually means "This seems like a great offer/deal/situation but it seems too good to be true so what are you not telling me? What do I have to do in order to get what I want?"

It can also mean that there are conditions to a situation and either choice you make you're losing something.
A very simple uncommon example.
"You can have this toy."
"What's the catch?"
"You have to give me your toy."
You either lose your toy, or don't get their toy. Either situation is unhappy for you.

"What are the conditions?"

"The catch" means the price to pay for a great deal. It could mean the same thing as "the fine print" or hidden obligations. It's a way of saying to the seller that the deal sounds good but what do I really have to do to get it?

read the book CATCH 22. Only then you'll know the philisophy
of the catch

If you are intelligent, then you'll read the book. The book review says its stupid and only dumb persons should read it.Knowing this fact, after reading it, you will be called stupid. If a stupid person reads it he'll be called intelligent. When the stupid persons, who became intelligent by reading the book re-reads the book, he'll become stupid. And stupid persons are not supposed to read the book. This is the catch22. The intelligent is stupid, and the stupid is iltelligent.
