In the US this would be considered the practice of law. You must be a licensed attorney in the state. This means finishing law school, taking and passing the bar exam, paying the bar association dues.

hi aji, if you're a licensed law practitioner then the areas depend on your expertise. if your training is in litigation, then that's what your clinic should specialized on. however, if you're not a lawyer, you cannot practice unless your own domestic law permits it so i suggest you better check on this first. i know of some jurisdictions where law students are permitted supervised practice. anyway, even if you're not a lawyer, you can still open a consultancy and contract out your services to law firms. they usually hire paralegal firms to take care of the incidentals like credit investigation, security surveillance, verification of property, service of subpoenas, etc. It can be very lucrative so you might want to explore that. hope this helps.

Are you a lawyer? I don't think that you can give legal advice without being a bar certified lawyer.
