Baby boomers protected us from the Nazis? NO! They were born afterwards.... So what do WE owe this generation?

My dad volunteered before WWII was over, and was willing to risk his life for our country. Baby boomers protested Vietnam and tried to claim they were exempt from service...

Why should WE pay social security and make sacrifices to help the priveledged classes of this generation, who have enough to retire on, or have profited on this country at other's expense, when so many other social programs go begging for funds?

I say STOP the programs for the baby boomer elite, and make payments of social security only available for those who need it!

What do YOU think? Best answer gets 10 points, as usual....

Vote in the next elecion for your convictions, though....

I agree. There are lots of seniors who have to choose between getting prescriptions filled and buying food, because all they have is social security to live on. If we stopped paying social security to anyone with over $50K per year of other income, then we could give the poorest seniors completely free prescriptions. The intent of the Medicare program was to give all people over 65 free medical care, but all the many extremely expensive prescription drugs now used have taken this away. Adding drug coverage to Medicare was supposed to fix this, but the existing program is just welfare for the drug companies!

BTW: I would be one of the people who gets cut off, so don't think I am suggesting this out of greed or envy.

1) SS is not welfare
2) SS is not a reward
3) Vietnam killed off many a baby boomer if your worried.
4) The system is devised as a saftey system to respond to the consquence of the great depression.

to assume that those conditions could never occur again is pure huberis.

the alternative is to have an entire generation forced to retire at 62 and on welfare.......as SS is not welfare but the money they paid into repaid.

according to the way you pose the statement you make it seem like a hand out instead of money people already paid into.

It is difficult to take this seriously by the way, as the logic is your judment on a genration that bears no substance is just some angry guys opinion.

have a good night.

Agree with you. Let us not be harsh. These systems are designed in such a manner, they average out and by and large meet the ends of justice.
