In their beliefs they think that they own their women, and that women, when seen by any other man and they're not married to them, cause them to sin, so they're covered and controlled. They believe women are the cause of fornication and adultery, and that they really have no control over it, so the women are punished because they were simply born that way.
It's an EXTREMELY TWISTED idea of what God intended for man and woman. The man is to honor his wife, not control her. He is to protect her. Not control her. He is to provide for her, not control her. See where I'm getting at?
They misconseived ideas and rules about womanhood and manhood and their roles and turned it into a controlling, over-powering, domineering and evil state.
When you're raised this way it's hard to see it any other way, and also another way is scary since you're not comfortable with it and it's unfamiliar, that's why they stay. It's the same with physically abused women. They're too scared and insecure to leave and don't know anything different so they wouldn't be comfortable stepping out and trying something they don't know.

is their religion. they were taught that way. just like you were taught the way you behave. is a cultural thing. but i do think nowadays, Muslim women are more liberated. the way i see it is as long as they are not interfering the way we act, why should we interfere theirs? if we do, then isn't it the "BIG USA" talking that they know best? not necessary in all things. of course is good to have equal rights and is wrong to see women getting abused. but i don't think that's what the karan teaches.

It is sad to be true but it will be only through great sacifice that they will ever achieve equal rights. They will have to gather in great numbers with like mined men at their side and take their freedom from men who have oppressed them.

It's called culture. In a differant situation...differant culture...their ways of living would be differant. One can chose to step outside of the norms of their particular situation...however, for acceptance, and individual will usually conform to what is as accepted

Because for all practical purposes, Muslem men treat their women as cattle, or as property.

Does your oven, or computer, or TV set give you lip? No, didn't think so
