The Best thing I like about the Lord of the rings is the that it centered around obsession,greed,suffering,and then there was a way to end most of it.

Peter Jackson's vision of the whole universe. From production design to special effects, it was all good.
And paradoxically enough, the fact that everyone can relate to these movies. There's something for everyone, really.
And also, great characters we actually care about.

How very, very much of the novels made it into the movies...not just how good they were ...the movies that is...but how much Jackson honored so very much of the material in the book. I was stunned.
