I've learned over the years that most people labeled as "narrow minded" are simply those people that do not share your viewpoint on some issue. Many have learned the issue and choose to take a different point of view.
So the name calling and labeling is done to try to offset their position with their different point of view.

The more you know, the more you will know how little you really know. More and good education make people more willingly to accept that there might be more than one truth, depending on the frames you have given to the answer.
