Roses are usually considered the romantic flowers. Red ... love, yellow friendship, etc. Although roses are extremely beautiful there are other flowers that are now becoming just as popular:
Tropical flowers Orchids Different types of oriental grasses and leaves Daises, carnations or Lilies are often sought out because of their durability. Gabura(?) Daisies - very colorful, but be careful .. be sure your florist gives you what they call a "special stem shunt" that is a little plastic tube that wraps around the stem just under the Gabura Daisy. These daisies will often drop. The shunt stops it from doing so and you can't see it so it doesn't ruin your bouquet or arrangement of flowers.
Designs are becoming more modern and simple, yet some people like a "granny garden" floral display. Oriental designs are fast rising here in Canada. Good, because I love Japanese anything! LOL
There are so many varieties of flowers and all are beautiful. I think it's a person's personal preference and any flowers you may send someone or receive are beautiful and popularity really doesn't come into it

roses. they have that whole crap about how each color means something. guys love to buy them because they think they're clever (heh i do) and girls love to get them because they think they carry a message! sometimes it's true. red roses are the most popular.

a lot of girls i have been with have liked sun flowers, they enjoyed any that i got them though.
