Get a guy to beat them into submition. NO I'm jus kiddin, why don't you just get a normal job and then do acting on the side until you can get a strong foothold, then your parents may be a bit more accepting.

My suggestion is to learn a trade that can support you. Proofreading, secretarial work, nearly anything that has frequent need for employees and will allow you a flexible schedule. Then study acting, audition for things and enjoy yourself. You'll always have a safety net. Remember that a large number of actors spend a great deal of time working at things other than acting. Over 90% of Actors Equity's membership is out of work at any given time. Find something you like to do that will give you a reasonable income. YOu might want to contact the Actors' Work Program at the Actors Fund in New York for some ideas.
Best of luck

the same thing i have done because my mum won't support my singing career. take a get f u c k d attitude in your head, don't let it out just think it. pursue it for you and only you. my mum constantly asks me why i do it and says i should be a flight attendant or police officer! i came home the other day and said i've scored an unlimited number of corporate gigs 3 hrs each $800 min a night 4 -5 nights a week and her eyes popped out of her head! anyone who hasn't supported me in the past gets no look in on my rewards either. that is what i suggest you do. its been a long ten years for me but i'm here. if you really want it ou'll get it x

Find someone else who will support you, such as a friend, sibling, grandparent, etc. You should pursue a career you're interested in and have a passion for, because it's your life. They are not the ones who will live with this decision; it is you who will live with this. You need to do something that will make you happy instead of doing something that will make your parents happy while you're miserable.

Do you know how few people make it acting? Do you want to be one of those people who persues it to for a few years to find out that you will never make it. At that time all of your friends would have finished college and have good jobs and your going to be working at McDonalds.

if you are old enough, you have to move out and support yourself, then you can go to as many auditions as you can. I think this is what actors do. You might have to be one of those struggling actors. But if it's your dream, go for it. , but I am in a familiar field (in a carreer that my parents do not fully support). good luck.

EFF them. Done, if you succeed you can be thankful you pursued it, if you don't you can't say you didnt try. Then you won't regret it.
