I have lots of questions with an adult theme but its very off-putting knowing anyone could be reading it.
Yahoo chat rooms used to have an adult section and there was even a chat room called "Ask anything".
Would it be popular if there was something like that here??

some good points coming in here...
Good point about parents monitoring minors on the internet....
Most p4rn sites have a button "click if you are over 18" so that could be good enough for Yahoo also.
Its also to avoid offending adults with a more conservative outlook. They would know just to avoid that category.
The Q's could be diverted away from the open-view menu of current Q's.

I think it might help.

Of course some the 'adult stuff' here isn't looking for a serious answer - it's just someone yelling for attention, and being downright, unamusingly, painfully, crass.

But asking pretty frank sexual questions in e.g. a special section is fine, in my book.

If a group of women wants to talk about vibrators or lubricants, I'll accept that it's their right to do so. (Hey, it's 2006, for heaven's sake). I'll leave them to it (I don't have anything to contribute to that discussion!), and, well, good for them. I personally wouldn't find honest questions about threesomes or anal sex offensive; some people, as you point out, might.

Also, a lot of parents may say: 'Well, I wouldn't want my kids to see a thread talking about the relative merits of various brands of vibrator'. Yeah, that's fair enough - it's another thing Yahoo should consider looking into. Is an ID system, or a 'Y!A Jnr' site a solution? (I just asked this very question yesterday see the Qs on my page) and got a variety of responses. Some parents, clearly, are not comfy with giving their kids free rein in Y!A)

In the meantime, until there's a better separation of 'adult' content, we'll just have to apply the principle of: 'if you don't like it, skip it.'

Yes, it's somewhere between a good idea and an unavoidable solution.
It should be "Adults Only", of course, and you're not going to be easily able to stop the under aged from clicking on "I am over 18", but that's about all that can be done, until the computers at home are smart enough to know that the user is underage & simply refuse to go there anyway.

It would be great. It'd be impossible to keep the kids out but at least they'd go in knowing what they're in for. I wish there was a way to tell the kids from the adults. I see lots of sex questions that I would answer a whole lot differently for a 12 year old than I do for an adult. I try to judge accurately but it can be tough telling a kid from an adult with limited English and poor communication skills.

No...it's sounds like a good idea but there are just too many ways for young people to get in. If they did have one, they would need a sure fire way of proving age and they don't unless you send a copy of your license but kids could use their parents licenses. If there is anything for only adults, kids will do anything to gain access.

Maybe you could make your own yahoo group for adults and do whatever you can to keep kids out. Good luck with that.

I can see the difference between yahoo answers specifically having a section as opposed to a chat room.........seems like it would be practically impossible to moderate though....considering how long it takes to get some questions here removed.

I suggest you set up a seperate account that no one knows about and ask "those" questions there so they are more private from the people you know! Good luck....

I think Yahoo!Answers should be for adults only. The children should have a separate site.

Of course there would be a problem verifying whether or not a person is *really* eighteen or older.....but something needs to be done. This is not an appropriate place for children. They need a safe place to play, and we need a place free from their nonsense.

This is the first question that you have asked that hasn't disgusted me!!!

Yes, there really should be an adults only section on here. You are not the only one to ask questions like yours but you really do seem obsessed with overboard questions on a sexual nature.

As a mother & auntie, I would hate to think any of my younger family members read your questions.

It is up to us as parents, as to when we need to talk a bout sex education & I'm so surprised you haven't been rported many more times than you have.

Thanks for my violation by the way, it's my first - I feel so proud of it x

Message to Richy,
I don't class letting my kids have a holiday of a lifetime with their GRANDPARENTS as neglect. How does that work?
Little bit of the green-eyed monster is it?

Yeah, I think it is not good to put those adult topics with a bunch of kids here. Those people who are especially inappropriate should be reported. The rest is relatively harmless and even educational but it may weird out some kids is all.

NO. People should monitor what their children are doing on the computer at all times. If they're so mad about their kid being exposed to adult themes then they shouldn't be on the computer by themselves.

And as an adult I don't find sexually related questions umcomfortable. If they're over the top I just ignore them, or report it.

People need to quit being such prudes.

basically there should be an adult answers section because the adults that are in charge of raisin our future generation are so lost themselves sometime maybe in the adult answers section we can have the kids answer the questions. if more people were capable of monitoring their children then you wouldn't even have to ask that question
