I went to a really fun water park with my kids today and in one of the pools that I was in, I got too close to the bottom with my knees and scraped up my knee really bad....

about and hour ago, I cleaned my scrape again with that "NO HURT" cleansing wash for minor cuts and scrapes...and it didn't hurt AT ALL...I just wanted it clean from germs...so then, I put neosporin and a bandaid on it....now it hurts WORSE.....I wonder WHY???? The neosporin is Maximum strength pain releiver ointment....so..uh...why is it still hurting?.....HOW WEIRD!

Sounds like you irritated it more...I would wash everything off gently, don't put anything on it for a day or so, but ice on and off with an ice pack and take some advil/ibuprofen. Put the ointments on in a few days so won't scar or get infected. When it's really healing, use vit E and take vit E too,(again for scarring).

Could be getting infected. Is the area around the scrape red and warm to the touch. If so it is infected. There are so many germs that invade a wound. If it doesnt heal in a couple days or form a scab, call your doctor. Ask your pharmacist asap if they can recommend a topical ointment. Perhaps you are just sensitive to the neosporin.

if you have it at home-try using gauze instead of the bandaid after applying the neosporin-this will allow the scrape to breathe-helping it heal. you can also use telfa pads-these can be found at any drugstore and are designed so they won't stick the the scrape itself and are breathable to allow air to get to the wound to help it heal. curad makes them.

the neosporin is only a temporary pain reliever and it will wear off within an hour. best thing for pain and to also help with swelling is ibuprofen. 200-400mg every 6 hours but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours. i know it might seem silly to take motrin for a scraped knee but it will help with the pain...

report to the emergency room for the following signs:
-fever of 101 or higher
-increased swelling of wound site
-wound has drainage that is yellowish brown or green in color
-red lines extending from wound to rest of the body (indicated infection in the blood-u will need i.v antibiotics asap)

these are signs of infection and you will need antibiotics to treat them.

I think the reason it is still hurting is that Neosporin has entered into a multi billion dollar contract with No Hurt. It is designed to trick you into putting on the No Hurt first, and when you see it in fact does not hurt, then you use the Neosporin. When you use the Neosporin, it hurts like all ungodly hell, causing you to frantically throw on gobs more of the No Hurt. Eventually, you will run out, and go buy more No Hurt, which Neosporin will get a cut of the profit from, due to their contract. It's a sneaky system, I tell you.

Neosporing Pain Relieving Ointment has lidocaine 1 % in it. So, when you put in on your scrape, and it starts deadening those itsy bitsy little nerve endings, unfortunately, it hurts. I'd stick a bandaid or two on it for sleep, so it doesn't ooze, or get yucky in the bed, and carry on from there.

Keep the wounds clean. Let it breathe.
A scrape is a bunch of mini-wounds, plus you probably have a bruise under it.
It will start to feel better soon.
