It depends on what your thesis is for. If it's for a cinamatography degree, then I would choose...

The Ten Commandments

I like the idea of 'The Ten Commandments'. It was a good movie. Very cinamatically advanced for it's time. For giggles there are a couple continuity errors. And then theres the whole fiction/non-fiction aspect.

Charlton Heston was great in the role of Moses. There are some inventive special effects. The parting of the Red Sea, the Burning Bush.

They may look amaturish now, but at the time, they were high-tech. Imagine people seeing it for the first time with an unjaded (by current technology,) perspective. How awe inspiring it must have been.

I myself don't know if I believe in the whole premise, but I really like the movie.

Of course, I also like 'Blazing Saddles' but for entirly different reasons. (lol)

Good luck.

The best movie ever produced, in my opinion...and this goes without the bias of what might be considered classic or Independant cult classic...as far the word "made" or "produced"...it has to be..."Back to the Future 1"...the story line is fluent, the cast is unforgettable, the sound work is awesome, and the film was immensely iconic...also a great theme and score...movies are not as fluent at B2TF was nowadays...an almost flawless movie...in my opinion.
