I know Republicans like to say that he was claiming that he invented the internet, but that's the same things as saying that Bush supports OBGYNs raping their patients, or that he really believes he was raised in the desert, or that German protesters brought down the Communists in Central America, or that he invented the word "misundertanding".
All Gore was trying to say is that he proposed bills that would fund the transition of the ARPAnet into the internet that we know today.
And Bush invented the word "misunderstanding."

Why do conservatives continue to believe that Al Gore said he invented the Internet? He never said this, what he said was that he had a hand in making the Internet available for public use. prior to 1993 the Internet was only available to the government.
