To the best of my knowledge: Soft bounce usually means they are over quota. A hard bounce means their email account is no longer active.

Bounce mean that email send from Yahoo!Groups server fail to reach recipient mailbox. If this happen, Yahoo!Groups server will try again several time to re-send the message.

Soft bounce mean the email send fail first, then sucessfully at second try or after several try.

Hard bounce mean all atempt to send the message fail.
