When I connect to the internet, I am fine to get into my homepage (yahoo) but then I can't seem to get anywhere other than a sites homepage, for example, i go into hotmail or ebay and can't get any further than the first page which comes up, this is happening with just about every site I try, i have turned off the computer and restarted it numerous times, and it still doesn't work. if i click on a link on any website, the little green bars along the bottom only go half way over about 5 minutes, and then i get a page saying i can't connect to that page, can anyone help me please. i work from home using the internet and this is costing me quite a lot.

It could be resolved by re-installation of your browser.
If you have Internet Explorer go the microsoft.co.uk or .com site and download the latest version, this should work.

Its not always the computer at fault, it could be your download speed. If your still on dial up then it could be a dodgy line or maybe the time of day when there is a lot of people using the net.
if you have anti virus check it out to see if it has a facility for monitoring your Internet traffic. You can also right click on the icon with two little screens flashing (Bottom right)and select Status and have a look at your speed.

If you're omputer says that it successdully connected to the internet, then I'd guess that you're working offline.
in Internet Explorer, go to File in the menu bar, and look near the bottom to see if "Work offline" is ticked. If it is, click on it to untick it, then try surfing the internet again.

If your running a P2P program turn it off & try again - This problem happen if your computer is doing to much ie - i'm burning a disk & run a virus program then i get the same problem as you - if your not running any other program then i would press ctrl+alt+Del at the same time to see what is running & using up your computer resources

Try erasing your cache or unplugging your modem for a few seconds/restarting your computer. If that doesn't work, contact your ISP. They will tell you how to diagnose your connection via command prompt. Good luck.

Well quite a strange problem one advice is you can do one thing go to Tool->Internet Options and click on privacy tab, now set your privacy level to medium or low. I think this should work for you.

You are probably not connecting properly and the home pages you can see have been cached to your machine.
Try contacting your ISP and get them to talk you through their known issues.
