My Grandmother was in perfect health up until two years ago when she took a nasty fall. As a result, she had a hip/knee replacement and now walks with a cane. The leg is no problem as she still drives and takes pool aerobics; however, she has since acquired very severe hand arthritis, which is speculated to be caused from using the cane.

She is 96 years old and has no other health problems. She is only taking 200mg of Celebrex at bedtime, vitamins and a JD on the rocks at 5:00PM. Any suggestions to relieve the pain will be appreciated.

now this is an old remedy that they used. all you do is go buy Olive oil and either peppermint or wintergreen warm it up for a couple of seconds then rub it on. also if you get sea salt and put it in your bath that might help. All this works for my father and has for over 10years for his arthritis.

Most physicians recommend the oral intake of glucosamine. Glucosamine is a natural substance found in almost all tissues in the body, and is involved in the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans, the main ingredient of the synovial fluid (a fluid that fills the space between joints) and cartilage. Glucosamine is not found in food sources, but is produced naturally by the body, and if for some reasons, the body does not produce it, it would probably lead to the development of OA.

I would also have her talk to her Dr. and see if he/she cant prescribe something a little stronger for her at night for her pain.
Dealing with chronic pain can be difficult and result in depression. People who take control of their treatment, communicate with their doctor, and actively manage their arthritis experience suffer less pain and function better

alieve( i think thats how oyu spell it) is supposed to be good for arthritis. theres also this stuff you can get. i think its called msn and no not the web browser. im pretty sure you can get it at a regular store, but if you cant find it i know you can get at GNC. i've also heard that bee stings help a lot. thats a little extreme though and i would ask a doctor about that first

P.S. alieve and naproxen sodium are the same things if you want to buy the generic brand

Try pot. I have no idea if it will work, but at 96, maybe the old girl just needs to have fun.
