Just seen the new Inspector Clouseau movie, it was **ap. Why does this man play parts which only one other actor did well.
Phil Silvers/ Sgt Bilko Peter Sellers/ Inspector Clouseau, he (Martin) is a pale imitation of the original.. well thats off my chest !!!! anyone agree

I agree with your comments but don't judge the guy untilyou have seen 'Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid', 'The Jerk', 'The Man With Two Brains' and 'Roxanne'. But I have to admit that anything recent, with the exception of 'Bowfinger', is total shite!

Steve Martin is a real funny guy, but best in stand up, and when he was younger. I did not think the story was as cute as the older one with Peter Sellers, as the inspector (his boss) was always getting hurt by Peter Sellers, and was just funnier. I don't know why they keep doing all these old movies, they need some new scripts. So many really talented movie stars and just no really good scripts.

Why does he get the parts he is better sticking to original characters i enjoyed Parenthood and father of the Bride.
In pink Panther his accent was up and down .
Sgt Bilko/Phil silvers and Peter Sellers were just the best and anyone copying them is not going to get anywhere near them.

I love the pink panther series I've all the ones Sellers was in
i love the scene

looking at a dog sellers asks hotel owner "does your dog bite"
"non Monsieur" sellers goes to stroke dog and it goes mad biting and attacking "I thought your dog didn't bite"
"but monsieur that is not my dog" its cracks me up all the time classic comedy not to be imitated.

I quite agree with you. I often wonder how he ever got into films, let alone the entertainment industry as a whole!

I know what you mean. He always plays the same kind of parts. Although Parenthood is worth watching!

I think he picks parts he can relate to rather than what would be good for him to play

If you think that sucked, watch this movie called 'shopgirl' which is based on a novella he wrote himself. It sucked the big one.
