Because nobody wants to pay them to do that. Just like those annoying spelling cops on Yahoo chat rooms or Yahoo answers.

most of the words that have been made are already made hence the need for all the mechanics and this has put the smiths into the unemployment line. as of about 1960 they only admitted around a dozen or less new words into the English dictionary per year and as you can imagine how many smiths could this possibly employ

Because it is much harder to do and be good at. It takes patience, hard work, and TALENT that not every body has. It is much easier to be an editor, unless you are doing it for a living. Then is a B....H. My father was one.
