Franklin Castle was built in Cleveland, Ohio sometime in the late 1800's by Hans Tiedemann. There where many rumors about this house.
His daughter supposedly died of diabetes but some claim she was found hung from the rafters in the ballroom. Soon after his wife died mysteriously. Rumors say he murdered his wife because she killed his mistress in the living area.
If was also reported that Nazi spies occupied the house for a time. The reported gunned down 20 men in the basement area. There was human remains (children too) found in the basement of the house in the 1970's.
I have been in the house. It was a beautiful home until a fire destroyed much of it a couple years ago. I have never seen or heard a ghost when i was there but you never know!! Here a website I found that explains some of the rumors http://www.deadohio.com/franklincastle.htm

Yeah, but it's not famous. My uncle has a hardwood floor business, and was redoing an old house in Lebanon, TN. Nice place, big 1870's plantation-style, two story with a wrap-around porch. He let us in while he was working on it, showed me and my mom around. There was one room, at the front of the house on the second story, that was SOOO not right. You could just feel it. He told us he wouldn't stay in the house alone, because lights would turn off for no reason, or doors close when they'd been deliberately propped open. And I know, people will say, "Hey, it's an old house. What do you expect?" But the wiring was newly done; it didn't shut off for no reason. And how do you explain a door shutting when it had been propped open by a 50lb box of hardwood flooring?
Turns out the house had been made into a nursing home in the early 20th century. Didn't hear of anything particularly bad happening there, but people do die in nursing homes. Perhaps one of the former residents didn't want to leave. I'll tell you this, though. Beautiful as that house was, you couldn't GIVE me that house. I would not live there.

The Winchester Mystery house was built by the widow of the man who invented the Winchester Rifle. A spiritualist warned her that the ghosts of people killed by that gun would come looking for her, but she would be protected as long as she kept building on to the house. So she kept building. There are stairs that lead nowhere, doors that open onto blank walls, and corridors with no outlet. She did eventually die, left the house to the state of California, and it is now a tourist attraction. They say that sometimes old widow Winchester appears to a visitor that has wandered off from the group.
