Millennium Development Goals:
http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/goals.html

It has been six years, only nine to go and we have barely made a dent.

Do you have faith in the UN? Do you believe in what they mean to accomplish?

I disagree with the first answerer. The UN is not a malicious organization, merely a bunch of hopelessly incompetent petty bureaucrats with dreams of grandeur. :-)

But yeah, I do agree that the UN has little chance of meeting its goals, especially by 2015. One of the problems is that they are so political and bureaucratic. Another is that they keep on relying on the same tried-but-failed policies and methods of the past.

The UN does not intend to meet those goals. that crap they release from time to time is just to attempt to justify their existence and get the general public to believe that the UN is "the good guys" they are not. they are a bunch of fat european and arab petty tyrants who want to make everyone slaves.
