The first moon landing (Apollo 11) was on July 20, 1969, the last one (Apollo 17) was in December of 1972.
To answer some of other basic questions: the first person in space was Yuri Gagarin, the first American in space was Alan Shepard, John Glenn was important because he was the first American actually to orbit the Earth, Shepard and Gus Grissom had just had suborbital flights, you can find pictures of men walking on the moon by doing a search for them at www.google.com or by writing to NASA. Ronald Reagan was president at the time of the Challenger accident.
