I was wondering have anyone else have seen this fish that looked like a dog. The clerk at petco said that the name of the fish is dogfish. I thought it was so strange looking. It had ears, nose and mouth just like a dog but it was a fish swimming in the aquariaum, she said it was a salt water tank fish. I don't think I would want to have something that look like that.

They are sharks, but can be kept in home aquariums. Just because they can, doesn't mean they should be. They usually average about 3 to 4 feet in length. If you save a fish they looked that much like a dog, I have no clue what it was. People who work in Petco just work there, while I've found they can be really knowledgeable, I've also found they can be really um.... not. I keep freshwater fish because most saltwater fish are harvested not tank bred. I wont subscribe to the harvesting of fish from natural environments for pets. I dont think anyone else should either.. Tank bred fish though, are fine. Any fish (or shark in this case) that gets that big just cant be provided with enough room in the normal household. Tanks are expensive! I think the clerk was mistaken if she told you that this fish was a dogfish.. Do some research and try to find out what it was, it sounds cool!

Um.. since when does PetCo carry saltwater fish?

No, I don't have one. I like my freshwater babies plenty.

EDIT: Where do you people live? The closest store to me that sells saltwater fish is a good thirty miles away in Lancaster (and I'm fairly close to Philly, so it's not like I'm in the middle of nowhere). PetSmart, PetCo, even the mom-and-pop stores all don't carry saltwater.
