How can I clean up the search bar?

You can delete the history of search bar on ur homepage (whatever it is either Yahoo! or Google) by following this path. Tools> internet options> content> auto complete> clear forms. To stop the generation of history uncheck the box of forms.

You can delete the search history on ur yahoo toolbar this way. click the arrow in the search box. Select options, click clear history. Follow this path also. Pencil> toolbar options> uncheck the boxes of enable auto complete and enable history> ok.

To delete address bar history, follow this path. Tools> internet options> general > clear history > set the number of days to zero> ok.

Do the following things:
(this is assuming your web browser looks like the following)
File | Edit | View | Favorites | Tools | Help


View - Toolbars - put only a check next to those you need

View - Customize - Self explanatory

Tools - Internet Options - Delete Cookies, Delete Files, and Clear History

Those files are temporary files that only take up valuable but commonly wasted space on your computer. Everything else is easy to change back if you do not like the way it looks

Have a close look at the icons on the tool bar. Can you see a small black upside down triangle at the side of every icon, well if you click on it a drop down menu will appear with all sorts of things on it.
The one you want is on the left of the search box. look for options and personalize your tool bar.
you can also highlight the search and press delete on your keyboard.

see the little 'pencil' icon next to the Y! ?, there is a tiny arrow to the right of the pencil, click on it, and then choose 'clear search history'

However, if you wish to delete search history saved by the browser and auto-filled when you type on the yahoo website, here is the solution:

To clear your history from Internet Explorer:
1. Go to the "Tools" menu.
2. Select "Internet Options."
3. Click the "General" tab.
4. Click the "Clear History" button. To completely disable the history function, set "Days to keep pages in history" to zero.

To clear your history from Mozilla Firefox:
1. Go to the "Tools" menu.
2. Select "Options" > "Privacy" > "History."
3. Click on "Clear." To completely disable the history function, set "Remember visited pages for the last X days" to zero ("0").
4. Click "OK" to exit.
