I am intersted in automobile eng and mechainical engineering.i've been recieving advises to go on with mechanical engineering as it is an open field.Which do u think is better??

Yes. It is a good decision to persue ur further studies in Mechanical Engineeering. 35% out of 100% Software professionals are from Mechanical Engineering Background.
In Manufacturing sectors, engineers with Mechanical background have wider scope.
Manufacturing sectors- Aerospace, Heavy Manufacturing engineering
SAP programmers--Product develepment, manufacturing, Process planning
Design engineering:- CAD/CAM/CIM
Pro-E, CATIA, SOLID WORKS ETC.

This is quite good branch of engg. Now you must be observing that we merely walk . This indicates the requirement and growth of automibiles. So if you will be doing this will definitely place you at higher positions.

ME opens more doors, normally offers better $$$$ and benefits, and -probably most important in the world economy --usually has positions with significantly better job security

AE...auto industry???? In the USA....tough!!!!
in Japan...Toyota and Honda....maybe...by VERY insular in Europe..not too many independent companies....FIAT maybe..
India....TATA seems OK

but really.....if the choice is ME versus Auto...stick with ME
