The black widow that would be expected in Wisconsin is the northern black widow, Latrodectus variolus. It has, on the underside of
the abdomen two red triangles forming what looks like an hourglass broken at the middle. It may also
have a row of two or three red dorsal spots on the
abdomen, in the midline. Juveniles have more
red and usually some white.
However a spider in the house crawling around on
a typewriter is not likely to be a black widow, which
is normally found in a web. A common black spider with a dorsal orange or red spot on the
abdomen is one of the jumping spiders, Phidippus
audax. The color of the spot varies and may be
white instead or orange or red. This is much more
likely to be found in a house walking actively
around. It has relatively short, stocky legs and is
quite hairy.

We had a few black widows around the house. They're shy and they don't bite unless they feel threatened. The back is black, with the hourglass on the stomach, which you can see if you scoop it up on a glass plate. They're good spiders, don't kill them, they catch flies and mosquitoes.

The red mark should always be on the underside of the black widow's abdomen. It isn't always an hourglass, sometimes it is two separate marks, or just an odd shape.
I don't know of any spider like the one you describe.

If the hour glass shape is red it is a Black Widow (stay away, be afraid, be very afraid Muhahahaha, no really ... be careful... unless you want it to bite you and you die a painful death).
