No, I still vote but I'm very disappointed about this electoral college business. I personally believe the popular vote should be the deciding factor...That is the voice of the people...and that is what democracy is.

The Electoral College should make you want to vote even more now. Even though we do not elect our President directly and rightly so, we do as the popular vote goes have a great impact on how the Electoral College does cast their votes. This has been proved in the last two major Presidential Elections.

As set up by the forefathers of our Great Nation, the Electoral College is there for a good reason. It actually allows equality to serve your vote and equalizes the votes between the massive populated cities and the rural areas of the country. Therefore as your state goes in Popular votes so goes the majority of the Electoral College. This way the most populated cities that have the majority of people and population will not take the actual votes away from a rural population or a state that has less population than a massive big city.

Please let us remember the United States of America is not a Democracy. It is a Republic. Therefore we elect Representatives and let them Represent us. A Democracy, a true Democracy would have us voting on every bill and law.

The electoral college is useless unless the constituents are required to vote the way of the people.

If you believe this is already the case, then good luck. An indirect vote is useless.

I can vote for someone who represents me in the electoral college and they don't have to vote the same way I would for any candidate. It happens every year.

Voting someone in to office to respresent you in the electoral college is worse than gambling in my book.

If you don't agree then sorry! Nobody will get my trust for an important vote like that. Sorry the electoral college is a waste of time.

I vote! The electoral college is only used for presidential elections. It's a lousy excuse for not voting. Every other election from senator and governor down to dog catcher is a direct election. Even with the electoral college, your vote matters. You vote for your state's electoral college delegates, so your vote helps determine which candidate your state delegates vote for.

No, indeed, the electoral college tells me whether me state is close or not (where I'm in one of the few states that will decide the contest)

and if my state is not one of the battlegrounds...

it frees me to vote third party and flip off both parties and their campaign spin meisters. Which is fun! The electoral college makes me WANT to vote tactically and unpredictably.

I think the electoral college sucks, but I vote anyway, I still have this nutty belief that my vote counts. I guess it's called denial.

Nope. My vote still counts, just in an indirect way.

Why don't they just abolish it? Gore could have been the president in 2000.
