Use periods in sentences on a resume?

When typing out long sentences or phrases in your resume, such as when describing yourself, objective, or your skills, should one use periods at the end of the sentences? Or is it considered a "faux pas" to do this?

It depends on the style being used. If you are writing complete sentences, particularly when chained together, then you should probably use periods. I generally use them when I'm writing out a description, but not for single line bullet points.

Just be consistent, there is no standard for this.

You might want to be sure what you're creating is actually a résumé rather than a CV.

A résumé is meant to be a concise list of information. If you can't fit it on a single page (or at an absolute stretch, two) then it isn't a résumé. What you have is a CV or curriculum vitae. A résumé should be targetted to the particular job for which you are applying, stressing only experience and skills you feel make you suitable for the job.

In a résumé you shouldn't be writing long sentences so your question becomes moot. In a CV you can write longer sentences and should punctuate properly.

Yes you should use a period. Grammer is important. Employers have hundreds of resumes to look through. All they need is one reason to trash yours and move on to the next. Also, try to keep it short and sweet. You don't want them to make a decision based on your resume alone, leave something to talk about in the interview. IM me if you need help writing it.

You should use periods only when it ends a complete sentence. Phrases are not sentences, and therefore, improper to contain periods.

I don't! From what I was told your not suppose to make a resume with any sentence structure, therefore it would be unnecessary to use a period

it depends. if you're seperating words, you need to use commas. if you're ending a sentence, you need to use periods or question marks. since you want it to look professional, you shouldn't use exclamation points, but periods, commas, and capital letters are all very important.

I usually use periods because it seems proper, but it actually looks better without periods.
