Let's see. Notre Dame has a slow defense and Penn State has more overall speed, especially outside than OSU had in the Fiesta Bowl and rang up over 600 yards. If ND couldn't contain Ginn, how will they contain 4 burners? Not with that pathetic pass rush. Notre Dame has a Heismann candidate but let's face it, the NCAA is contractually obligated to hype at least one ND player every year. Penn State has the best linebackers in the country. I'd say Penn State by at least 10. My guess is ND's hype will burst in the first three weeks, they'll get by Tech but then lose to Penn State and Michigan before eeking out a win in East Lansing.

I'll take Notre Dame over Penn State this season. PSU lost too much talent, especially with Michael Robinson leaving. Notre Dame returned almost all their starters. That's why ND is ranked so high in preseason polls. When you return that many starters and have a good season like 2005, you're going to be ranked that high. I know ND didn't win any big games last season, but they had a great season for a first-year head coach. Watch out for ND this year. I'm not a ND fan, but they have a lot going for them this season. They'll be looking for payback at USC too.

I’ll say Penn State. Mostly cause of the defense that dominated the Big Ten last year and as we know Paul Posluszny is probably the best linebacker in college. They have the best two receivers in the game with Butler and Williams and new quarterback Anthony Morelli is a capable starter. Tony Hunt is a 1,000 rusher. Should be a great year for the Lions. In addition, going into South Bend to beat the Irish will be the icing on the cake

It's a little early to tell because things might change between now and when those two square off. But as of right now I'll have to say Notre Dame, cause their passing attack is deadly and their are a few question marks in Penn State's secondary. I'd have to see how Penn State looks on defense before I can give you my real pick.

Notre Dame. They're going to be a good team this year. Quinn, Walker, and Samardzija are all top notch playmakers, and the rest of the team should be fully integrated into Charlie Weis' style by now, so they'll be even stronger than last season.
PSU lost their team leader in Michael Robinson, and their only pass rush threat in Tamba Hali. They're still a pretty good team, but not as strong as last season, and not at the same level offensively as Notre Dame.

PSU makes this a game, but will end up losing by about 10. Notre Dame will probably also beat Michigan the week after, setting them up for the big fall when they head to East Lansing to play the team that owns them.
