It will; we are entering a part of our galaxy that we have not been in since the dinosaurs went extinct. This area is highly active in meteoritic activity. And then it seems the world has been falling apart slowly since the September 11th attacks on America, and now with this growing tension in the Middle East, specifically near the "Holy Land." It is commonly known that when there is a problem that concerns religion, as this does, there is a problem around the world.

Not to mention Global Worming, a problem that is nearing the point of no return.

Yes, we are moving into a dangerous part of the galaxy. It's not that a star will move closer to us but that our star, along with the rest in the galaxy, orbits the center of the galaxy (possibly a super massive black hole). I seriously doubt that we will have created a technology to save us from any meteor within the next century (a nuclear blast will only work on a small number of meteors). Plus, scientists have calculated a gradual increase of the amount of microscopic meteors that bombard us every day.

More likely our own ignorance, stupidity, etc etc etc
No "religious" themes here...just basic inhumane humans
You might want to read Carl Sagan's book "Intelligent Life in the Universe"....he proposed that it is possible the "industrialized" societies might have a life expectency...that is, we create our own demise/extinction with our advancements...
"global warming; [with the advent of airplanes]the quick spread of diseases, plagues; lack of potable water; depletion of necessary resources; [thermonuclear] war; toxic dumping ......
well, you get the idea...
The odds of a world wide natural disaster, like a "killer" comet..well, the odds aren't that high...

Well you seem pretty convinced already that the End Times Are Near, so I doubt what I have to say will change your mind, but....
All the evidence indicates that mankind will be here for a long, LONG time to come. Meteors? There are none that have any significant chance of smacking us in the next hundred years, and by then (if not sooner) we'll have the technology to deflect any that threaten us. Our solar system is NOT moving into a dangerous part of the galaxy. The only way to get increased meteor/cometary bombardment of Earth would be for a star to pass relatively close by, disrupting the Oort cloud and sending a few icy bodies into the inner solar system. But for one thing, the nearest star is still 4.3 light-years away, WAY too far to affect us, and second, even if such an event were to occur, it would happen over a timespan of millions of years.
War? That's slightly more possible, though not much. It would take a full-scale nuclear exchange to finish off mankind, and even then I have my doubts: there are no warheads targetting remote areas like the heart of Africa or the Austrailian outback, where there are still enough humans to carry on the race and warm enough that a nuclear winter would not freeze them to death.
A global pandemic is even less likely. When SARS made its appearance (remember that?), humanity had completely sequenced the virus within 6 days of the first samples being collected and had developed a vaccine within a few months. Also, it actually helps to have 6 billion humans around; we are now simply too diverse as a species for any one germ to completely conquer.
Global warming? Not at all likely. Even the most dire predictions of the GW alarmists--which, BTW, are not supported by any of the credible climate models--would, at most, put civilization under a lot of added pressure. But GW is not a civilization-killer, much less the end of humanity.
Post-9/11 world chaos? Again, not a chance. The world was in much, MUCH worse shape in every measurable way during either of the two world wars, which we managed to pull through just fine. All the global strife happening now, as bad as it may be, is just more of the same-old-same-old, and it too will pass.
It is also important to distinguish between the end of a civilization vs. the end of our species. Civilizations do indeed seem to have limited lifetimes, but the human species always carries on. Our current civilization is not as good as it could be, and one might even make the case that it is in decline. But we still have at least a few decades if not more before it falls, and it is only a matter of time before it is replaced by a newer, even better civilization.
The teeth-gnashers and doomsayers have been predicting the End of the World for millenia, utterly convinced of their correctness. And yet mankind, and his civilizations, continue to progress and march on. The future actually looks quite bright, for those with the vision to see it.

If the current trend hold true the end of the rein of humanity will be a combination of the two probable conclusions.... Through our "Ignorance" we have already set in motion a cataclysmic series of events that, Left unchecked will pose a serious threat to the human race. How ever I believe that before that happens we as a race will depleat our populations so severly by way of warfare and other violent acts of aggression that if and when a major natural disaster occurs the human race will be unable to sustain its own existance and will fade into oblivion. And the only other thing that I can say is that Religious Ignorance and intollerance will be one of the biggest contributers to wars and genocides on "biblicle" proportions.

I think nature made us so that we would do the job of completely destroying the planet for her so she can build it up again...u know something like the big bang...lol...But I think humanity will end at our own hands. There's no end to how aggressive and destructive humans can be and each day we get just a little worse. I know there are groups and organizations out there doing there best to stop it or at least slow it down...but the majority of the people out there care not for the future. It's always the here and the now and immediate gratification. I happen to think that anything made by nature is a million times better than anything man made and it makes me sad to see people I know not giving a **** about how much destruction they cause to something so beautiful that they take for granted

I would have to say both. Looking at the times now, the apocalypse might soon come already. Look at the many epidemics that we receive each year. Don't you also think that natural calamity have also increased from simple things like Hurricane Katrina to big things like the tsunami in Asia. What is more is human dissension is increasing. With all the rape and murder and war. Everything could raise hell upon itself and end humanity as we know it.

Humanity is not reigning! This material universe is just a jail for rebellious prisoners, who misbehaved in the spiritual world.God let us play His role, creating other beings, objects, reproduce offsprings, but all in a distressful way:giving birth is pain-getting wealth,a huge struggle, keeping fit, quite difficult, and all this is finished at death:we can't take anything with us,though some kings do bring some of their possessions in their tomb,a useless undertaking.
This material universe is being kept eternally, just like in a country, there is always a jail.It is sometimes not so bad at the beginning of a cycle, where humans can live up to millions of years,in higher planets,to earth, around 100yrs.but at the end of the cycle humans will live only few years, diminished by pollution and poisonous food-it's already there, with Mc donald, coke etc...[their size will be about 1 metre high!]and insects will grow to enormous size, dominating the planet, just like the lizard faily grew last cycle[dinosaures]
Such end in this Kali yuga is in 430,000 yrs time, but in the meanwhile, there will be partial ends of universe, with natural catastrophes, wars etc...
Sooooo...in order to esape all this mess,we should enquire from a bonafide spiritual master how to go to the spiritual abode, where life is real, non material, and devoid of all anxiety. Most religious teachers nowadays are cheaters, and are encouraging people to stay in this universe, and carry on sinning:we now have homosexual bishops, most are meat eaters, wine and whisky drinkers, and loving money, and so get qualified for hellish planets or rebirth as animals.
The vedas, scriptures of the East can still give us complete light into genuine spiritual path.

I do relish your question. Please enable a second to work out this from my perspective. I genuinely have fought for america in this conflict, genuinely in Afghanistan. it truly is undeniable reality that america Congress and President Bush made an suggested decision to invade Iraq. President Bush speaks on behalf of america electorate, it truly is the ability we in trust in our President after we freely opt for him. Please note that we not purely elected him earlier the invasion, we also chosen to shop him in ability after for his 2d time period. people are an effective people. Our united states has conquered many international locations over the years and one and all at the moment has a loose and democratic people. Please trust in us after we are saying our intentions are certainly solid. We as solid people opt for our authorities, and we are solid people. a very last note. I fought less than The Afghanistan Flag, not an American Flag even as i became combating in Afghanistan. I did even if positioned on the yank Flag on my uniform. Ms. KM, for your recommendations the U.S. Senate licensed the invasion of Iraq. The determination became handed with seventy seven Senators vote casting certain and 23 vote casting no. The determination became handed interior the abode with 296 vote casting certain and 133 vote casting no. the very reality of the count number is that we would want to have loved conflict, and now that we are there such a large number of can "talk the talk yet not stroll the stroll." it truly is not 1/2. it truly is the majority, it truly is a Democracy.
