Complex numbers are any numbers without i. Therefore, 1 can be a complex number, as (i^2)^2 or i^4 = 1. However, technicalities aside, any number without i can be considered to be a non-complex number, or in equation form, x E R.

on the other hand...all numbers could be considered as complex if written as
a + bi for all value of a E R and b = 0

clearly there is no such number.
