your "ping" is actually an echo of your location to other people's computers.

people that are close to the same router that you are at will have higher ping numbers. if you are the only ping on your level (you are high, everyone is low or you are low, everyone is high) then you need to connect to another router to that site

if you are on dial up, your ping won't be good.
