It could be that your PS2 lens needs cleaning.

I had the same problem. I tried cleaning, and had the disc resurfaced. What a guy at the game store said was that the original PS2s would screw up if you played DVDs on them. If you have done that (like I did....) it does something to the system that keeps it from reading the game discs.

If it's old then I know why.
The original ps2's had a problem.. Usually had something to do with DVD reading. Call their customer support and ask the question. My old ps2 actually ate into my discs at one point. It's just a bug in the ol' ps2's.

Did u try cleaning it? Try cleaning the disc to. Sometimes the lens is dirty on there a finger prints on the game

either the prob is with ur cd or it is with ur cables. they may not be connected properly. either that or smth is wrong IN ur ps2, u cud bring it to any shop tt sells ps2 to hav it checked. if they duno the prob wit it, they shudnt be in that job.

there is a problem with the dvd or ur lens is not working if u have a mod chip it might be its problem
