Depends on what you are defining as "search engine". I can guess it can be one of several things:
1) Your homepage is the Yahoo! search page, in which case you can change your homepage by going to your Web browser's "Settings" (Tools > Internet Options in Internet Explorer or Tools > Options in Mozilla Firefox)
2) You are using a recent Web browser that allows you to search from the browser in a search box typically located in the upper right-hand corner of the window. To change the default search engine, click on the downward-pointing arrow located somewhere around the search box and change it to another engine of choice, or click "More Providers" (wording may be different) to find more providers.
3) You are using the Yahoo! suite that includes the Toolbar, Messenger, and other add-ons. In this case, go to the Control Panel (assuming you are using Microsoft Windows), select "Add/Remove Programs", and remove anything referencing "Yahoo! Toolbar" or "Yahoo! Suite".

What I did was remove yahoo toolbar from my webpage.Click on the pencil icon next to Y! and hit uninstall on the bottom.

click on the little arrow element in the quest pane. Scroll down and click ob 'take care of seek engines' spotlight a seek engine, and you're able to circulate it up or down, or delete it...

control panel>add/remove programs>remove yahoo toolbar.
Internet options>Homepage>change to what you want to>OK
