In Private school, you normally get more attention and help with work if you need it. its usually a much more of a academics environment but that will go well for colleges. the students are usually more well behaved and have better morals than public school, one example would maybe be because of how much their parents are paying for them. i think its not necessarily safer or not as safe, and i think in private school you get even more options and opinions than a public school but it also varies in different areas and different schools.

i think what it comes down to for parents is what kind of structure, students, and education and possibilities do i want my child around, and how much am i willing to pay to get that for my child?

We did a Charter school, which we lovingly call a Private School at Public School prices. LOL! It receives 80% public money per student (balance 20% goes to the district) but they can do their own curriculum, so it's more advanced than the public school curriculum. It is held in the classrooms in a church so it's very safe. He'll be there until 8th grade... he was in the inaugural Kindergarten class last year, so we've got plenty of time until high school to worry about safety.

public is the wiser choice... private schools, in my opinion, are a waste of money... u dont wanna spend ur whole life paying for education... public schools are just as good as private ones... as long as u stay on top of ur child, and make sure they're learning at a good pace...

plus, ive always heard, and it has been proven, that private school kids turn out worse (in behavior) than public school kids... but u could always try both, or read up on different schools... u never kno what could be best 4 ur child until u try it...

PUBLIC i am now a senior in high school. i have went to private and public schools. i am now in public. and to say private is safer sounds reasonable but isnt nessacarily true. since sept. 11th the public school system in the states has really cracked down on safety in schools. i have never felt threatened at all. diversity and a feeling of being normal are two more big plus. and private schools generally hold a lot of spoiled rich children so eager to spend their parents money on drugs its insane. i have seen it happen. public will give your children a wonderful school expirience that will help them learn reality sooner than the closure of private. goodluck

I would send my kid to public school . I am paying tax and I should get what government offers from my tax. Private school are just a way to rip off parents . You should invest that money in the bank for your kid's college education in future or for a car on his 16th birthday

I would do anything humanly possible to keep them out the sick, depraved public school/prison system. Private is better, of course, depending upon the school, but the best thing to do is to start checking out the home schooling circles and see how you can go about doing this.

A parent who sends his child to a public school in 2006 either doesn't care for the child all that much or is totally out of touch with reality, in my opinion.

public I believe if a kid is going to do well they will do well no matter where they go to school. I'm in Australia I don't believe private schools are any safer than public schools

Private schools: On average, private schools have more individual attention to each student and class sizes. More $ obviously.

Public schools: Government-paid/free. On average, public schools have larger class sizes and less individual student attention, but it really depends on the school itself. For example, some public schools are really fine since they may be located in a wealthy, good neighborhood.
