Yes, there are more males. In China many of the female children are abandoned, not because they don't want them, but because they need a boy to support them. When they become 40, they are to live and be supported by their son. Since they can only have one child by law they need a son. visit my space at :

There are more males, from what I have learned, for a pretty specific reason. In China there is a population / livable space crisis. There is a legal limit to the number of children a family can have. Since men are dominant in Chinese culture, majorly, many families, the mother-to-be finding herself pregnant, have been forced by the man to have an abortion if the child was found to be female. That way, the family can stay under the limit and still have sons. This practice, being done for some time, have caused a serious lack of females in the population.

Yupz...there more males then females in China....sad to say....the 'One Child Policy' in China still stands and most families prefer males (to carry on their family name).
So with the new technology (which allows determining gender of child prior to birth), some couples opted to abort the female fetus and keeping only male babies.

I believe there are more males, because with the population control laws they are only allowed to have one child and for some reason male children are preferred over female.
Due to this preference, many pregnancies where the fetus is found to be a female are terminated or female newborns are murdured.

in china with the one child per family policy...i would say that males are more than females now as chinese place more importance on sons than daughters....they will give away their daughters or kill their daughters upon birth...just to follow the chinese government's policy.
